about

Romanian editor IORGA focuses on four not-so-well-known disco funk gems from Romania’s Communist era for his first release with Vinyl, Rum, Tapas & Wine. These are killer edits from vinyl and digital and the EP inaugurates a series of “something” that he thinks will put Romania and his beloved VRTW on the world map of disco funk edits and reworks.

“RVR”, originally “Floare La Rever”, is a 1988 semi classic piece written and perfomed by Nicu Alifantis that you could hear many years ago at some techno parties. This is the first real funky reinterpretation of a tune considered by IORGA to have the most powerful bass line amongst oldies but goldies from Romania.

"Plopi Impari", originally released in 1985 by Grupul Stereo, has been subjected to few techno edits over the years, but not to disco. This rework belongs amongst the better ones, chopping, looping and extending the original and laying it over IORGA’s trademark crunchy new disco beats.

“Hai La București” was written by Anton Șuteu for the soundtrack of the movie “Buletin De București” (1983) and was discovered by IORGA in his struggle to find some real Romanian old jazzy disco. This is the first rework of this track ever, a version with more boogie-down action and wind instruments in the front.

“Bună Seara”, originally released by Trio Expres as a cover for "Saragossa Band - Buona Sera" is the essence of obscure disco music from Romania. It seems to be from 1986, but not much data is available. The original version lives on the net only as a low res version and this disco rework is a testimonial to IORGA’s talent as an editor.
